Much as it pains this Capt to fall into the (non-fishin post trap), while waiting my turn for space in the oven (making cookies this AM - (pierogi's were made last week)...couple of things, re: planting.

Over the years esp. at prior house was big on veggie garden, and fruits and nuts. Almond and dwarf bing cherry trees, grapes, strawberries and thornless blackberries near size of golf balls. Head lettuce, g. beans, garlic, lunker carrots, peppers, tomatos, radishes, snap peas, etc.

Neighbor at old house planted peppers for drying and chopping for pizza. This Capt carefully chopped em up till would fit thru holes in shaker. When done, wiping sweat off face, ran finger over eye. You don't want to do that!!! Was flushing eye w/ shot glass for near an hour!!

Planting here in new house real pain as plants need to be deer netted, and no sun till close to noon due to tall trees east of house. Tried tomatos in pots on deck this summer and worked out well, along w/ eggplant, and peppers.

Gettin too old for much plantin now. Never enuf time to enjoy the plants as neighbor kills em every year w/ overwatering, for 3 weeks while gone, catching all the fish :):) in Rodanthe and Waves and Salvo.
