If you watch the content and count the miligrams you can eat anything, just not every day. Sausage gravy is wonderfull over biscuits, just don't put much salt in it. Experiment with other spices. Granulated garlic in a very small amount adss great flavor in the gravy along with black pepper. It really is amazing how much you can control what goes into you if you make or bake it yourself instead of buying it packaged. I started baking my own bread and biscuits and leave the salt out or put in a pinch. And yes Bourbon does help alot.
