Yea I blanch and cut it off too.
The fence is the shock wire type, single strand wire about as thick as a pencil lead, power source delivers every couple of seconds. Doesn't hurt the way the old ones did but does an excelent job. One controller will do several miles of fence. First used it to keep a 1500 steer in who had an attitude, then I introduced him to my butcher. Extended it to the dog pen because of a golden who loved to dig, and finally to the garden. Again, doesn't hurt, but does an excelent job. Buy one at a farm supply for around $75.00 plus the roll of wire. Will shock through weeds, grass, whatever
