taxes

Can any of you local homeowners explain the new real estate taxes to me? An 18 cent increase is huge, what are these areas paying now? At least $1.00 I would think. I know the beaches need nourishment, but wasn't there a tax increase last year on rental property to pay for that?
I know I've heard fishermen and barfly's talk about a toll booth, but has anyone in power ever considered a toll on the bridges coming in instead of taxing the locals to bankruptcy?
