I agree with Terry. If you're wanting to use artificials I would recommend a red/white Gotcha lure or a Hopkins spoon. A white or chartreuse bucktail tipped with a piece of squid will also work sometimes.

Fish the Gotchas and spoons fast while jerking the rod tip. This will usually trigger bites from Spanish Mackerels and Bluefish. Fish the bucktail a little bit slower for blues or on the bottom for flounder.

Might be worth a try to fish in close with finger mullets for flounder.
