That's funny. i have a 7' Berkley I use for catfish and carp around here. It has a generic reel, Alpha XT, loaded with braid. The rod may be cool, but I worry about the reel failing when I need it most. I take it to the beach, but aside from some blind casting, it just sits in a spike all day. I haven't witnessed a school in close enough to cast at. That is the second recommendation for a Shimano. Hmmm...
I need to read up on the trout fishing. I think I read that they show up in late September. Is it obvious when they are around? Do they push bait to the surface? I've got some reading to do here.
Thanks for the comment on the puppy. I know it isn't huge, but I had a blast. Fished hard all week last Sept. Seems there was a storm just off the coast that wouldn't die. Fished muddy water all week.
