Lurker Seeking Equipment Advice *PIC*

I've been checking out this forum for a while, now. I appreciate all of the information the active members share here. Thank you.
I have made a fall trip to the Outer Banks the last three years and will be fishing in Avon this September. I'm trying to find decent equipment without breaking the bank. Last year I bought a 9' Lamiglas Surf King and mated it to a Diawa Emcast reel. This set up is a great improvement over what I was using. It wasn't tested on any tackle busters but I did catch a couple of smallish puppies and a small black drum :). Anyway, I just bought a 10' Daiwa Emblem and was wondering if anyone would recommend a reel in the $100 or less range. The rod is rated for 4-7oz lure and 20-40lb line. I don't care about being pretty, I"m just looking for a solid reel for the money.
I'm also interested in a good set up for throwing plugs/spoons if anyone has a suggestion.
