Re: low country boil. In Fredericksburg ate at AM Seafood. Place empty at 6:30 PM. Ordered a "boil" as an appetizer. Cooked in what looked like doubled up turkey baking bags. Shrimp, mussels, corn, sausage, potatos. 3 dippin sauces + melted butter. Rave reviews. Entrees incl., crab cakes, shrimp tacos and Linguini w/ mussels. Large portions. Presentation A1. Waitress acted like serving 4 = her "first rodeo". Had fun w/ her. Highly recommend the place.
As a side note, principal of school Mrs. Capt worked for for 26 years, annually did boil for the staff. In oversized restaurant pot. Had 1 large table covered w/ white paper. Drained the boil of water and threw contents on the table.
Re: northern clambake (w/ chicken). Dad did annually for as long as can remember. (Always in attendance were the police - mentioned in prior post - that locked him on the slab in the morgue. This Capt continues the annual tradition usin dads "exact" recipe. Have 2 baker sets Med. and Lrg.
Re: daughter. RNBSN. Cardio Thorasic and ER nurse. Same as ER Dr. son, has seen it all and has unbelievable stories.
Nurse of the year in Fl. Always worked the 10 hour nite shift. Not great for marriage but did so so could be home days for the dogs. Cudos wherever she worked. And yes, is shortage of nurses.Worried she'd never make it thru nursing program at college. Spent more time at nearby co-ed univ. than she did at her own all girls univ. (So much so she was mistaken for student at the co-ed univ.) Her successes real source of pride for the family.
Not many familes have ER doc, ER and heart nurse, and FBI agent in attendance at the beach each summer. Count our blessings.
