Livin in OP community see a lot of the "nobody cares". In many cases family are close yet they do not visit. Sad. Cause usually the fault of the OP.
Tough nut to crack when they become nasty and unreasonable. Happened to next door neighbor over time.

Still maintain some of yard for them and do jobs for them when asked, just don't volunteer ahead of time. Depressing to bust butt for others only to have them continually complain about your life to all that will listen.

Others tho are truly lonely and have to always go the extra mile for them. At old place dad just down the street. Was still workin so till dinner he was alone. Hired gal 3 days a week to clean. Realized after few weeks she did none of that, rather was just someone for him to talk to and take out to eat.
