Those Canadian trips are a blast. One of the reasons I fell in love with this part of Virginia is because it's relatively close to the beach and when we first moved here the lake was full of 30 pound stripers. We had a big winter kill of gizzard shad in 2001 and then a big die off of the big stripers. Fishing got slow for a few years , but it's picked back up and we are catching more citations every year.

Nothing quite like drifting over a school of big , hungry stripers with 8 live baits hanging off the boat. Probably another couple of weeks and the big ones will start coming up to the shallow water on my end of the lake.
