You can fish under the piers from the beach, I was having a blast catching undersized flounder last week. big slews along the beach right in that area, you could hike the surf and keep moving until ya find the holes. Alot more bait near the piers for sure. Didnt have to fight many swimmers alot people in knee deep =P hope that helps
