what type of bait do you use for smallmouth? i use to fish the north fork of the shenandoah river alot. we used madtoms, minnows and hellgramites. it is sad , but pollution has ruined one of best smallmouth streams in va. the largest ones were about 2 to 4 pounds. the stream also had nice rock bass and green sunfish. we would eat some of them and always returned the smallmouth.
