Well not sure how to stretch this to fishin...

When 5 - 10 years old, best hero was the Lone Ranger. As we lived pretty much day to day there was no money to be spent towards Lone Ranger items. In fact, picture I had of him was cut from front page of a Sunday newspaper magazine, put in homemade frame. (I still have it!!)

Whenever I was exceptionally good for several days - not that that happened often... I would wake to find a silver bullet on the ledge outside my bedroom window... My hero was keepin tabs on me!!

Found out years later that dad was making em in machine shop where he worked part time.

Dad was working full time + the part time job to make ends meet so there wasn't a lot of bonding time. One special place we had was in the forested area behind the Cleveland zoo. Whenever we went there to tromp around we took my best friend. Invariably, under one of the logs we would stop to rest on, we would both find a silver bullet.

I still see my old best friend 6 - 10 times a year. Last was at annual Chjristmas party. I put a silver bullet (still had 2) next to my plate to see his response. When he finally saw it his eyes got big, and he immediately started to recount all the times we found them behind the zoo...he didn't know I was getting them on the window sill for years. He thought all these years, his dad ws making them somehow... I didn't have the heart to tell em he was wrong...he was so excited to see and hold one again. As we were leaving the party I gave him the silver bullet. After all, I still had one, and now he did too. You had to see his eyes well up... it was a good gift I think.

This story qualifies for this board as its not "fishy".
