Don't post much but enjoy reading and hearing about fishing the banks. Last Thanksgiving I bought a new reel for my son at TW's. He rigged up and cast while I was getting his little brother rigged up. I heard a shout and turned to see him bowed up and reeling like crazy with no results. I realized I hadn't bothered to check the drag! I grabbed the rod, clamped my hand over the reel and started backing up the beach. Told him to try to bring the line in hand-over-hand while I tried to get line back. Result? 27" pup for a great dinner.
