In Response To: Hey Hookem??? (jlmann)

I said when I get a few minutes, I type slow. Due to work and other commentments I've been delayed. Now... A few weeks agao i had a week at the OBX during the high wind and waves. I wanted to catch fish! So one evening around 2:30 the wind had died down and the surf was at low tide. I parked at one of the public parking areas. I get my bait, bucket, rods and reels ready. Then I break out my waders. I kick off my shoes and step into the waders. (the kind where the boots are attached) At this point I begin a long process (that was not anticipated!)of pulling up the waders. My pants legs would not stay down in the boots. As I slowing pulled, stretched and cussed, the waders began to move up slowly. At this point I noticed a young lady at a house beside where I was parked. She was on the porch reading and glanced my way and smiled. Great! Someone could see this cluster. I expected her to be laughing, but she wasn't. I tried to move out of sight,no luck. So I continued to fight the waders. I now think i know what a woman goes through with form fitting under garments. So I continued pulling and fighting some more. Finally they come up. The girl waves and wished me good luck, I thanked her. What a nice girl, I would have been dying laughing if I had been in her place. So to the beach I go. I get set up and launch my set up in to the ocean, nice cast. I set my rod in a sand spike and step back to watch and wait for the big one. After a few mintues and can see what appears to be a green SUV, you know the kind the Marine patrol uses. Slowly the vehicle moves down the beach towards me. I'm legal, that's not my concern. So I am trying to figure out a way to get to my permit. The waders are snug to say the least. Put it this way, I didn't need to put the safety belt on to keep out water if I would have fell in a wave. So at this point I decided that I would just peel this girdle down, show my permit and waddle myself back to my truck and call it a day. As the vehicle got close I could see that it was not the Marine patrol. So I fished a little while longer with no luck. I as returned to my truck and was racking my brain to remember how I had gotten these things on the last time. Then I remembered that it had about 10 years ago and about 30 lbs lighter. I will be looking for a new set of waders that fit!
