Your tackle should be ok , but there are times when you need more weight than 2 or 3 ounces. You might want to bring some 40 or 50 lb. mono in case you need a shock leader. It also makes a good leader if you're fishing for spanish or blues. You might want to try a 2 or 3 hook bottom rig. Just be aware that you could hook something like a big skate or even a drum and get spooled with the light tackle.
I've seen people use live bait for spanish with mixed results. Most of mine have been caught on Gotcha lures , spoons, mackerel trees and straw rigs. I'd rather fish with lures when I can though , so it might not hurt to try live bait for them.
I haven't heard any reports from around Corolla lately , but surf fishing is always an option. King usually knows what's going on at the North beaches.
