Regarding that pendulum cast mentioned back a few. I personally don't think its cracked up to be so great, especially when one considers the time involved to perfect it.
I tried it and laughed at myself, although I did manage 100 yards. from goal post to goal post, with 12 lb line and a 5 ounce sinker.
I was in Pittsburgh back some years when they had the contest there down at Point Park.
About 6 - 7 casters were competing and they were quite good, 600 to 700+ yards.
One fellow had a unique method which I liked, he laid out his line behind him in a straight line, probably about 1-1/2 times the length of his rod, he just made the line tight and gave a toss. It was impressive to me anyway the distance he got, did not win or come close, however he was within good range of the others..
Heck I only fish in the suds anymore, have more fun, and much easier..
