There's a boiler wreck you can't see about 5' below the surface 150' out on the north side of the 2 1/2 mile marker in Kitty Hawk. You might catch some fish at it like bluefish and flounder. I also like the beach access on the south side of the Black Pelican restaurant. It's the best sea mullet beach, that beach access can get crowded during the day.
A lot of the beach on Hatteras Island will probably be closed in May for bird nesting probably including the point. I'm guessing it's going to be worst than last year with more ramps being closed. I'd suggest going north of Corolla during spring / summer if you want to drive on the beach. The better fishing in that area is late summer and early fall. You'll have to figure it out, the wash outs and tree stump areas can be good.
