surf fishing last week of march

so how is the fishing usually in late march - 1st of april ? i usually go to obx in the summer and fall and this year thought we would try an early vacation. just curious as to what is usually caught this time of year and what bait to use.also does any one know how a crew cab duramax dually does in the sand ? thanks herman hood
