You have to adjust the reel so that when you release the weight it drops but not all the way to the ground. I prefer spinning reels.
That is called the herd instinct you try to move away from the crowd on the beach and then somebody will come get right beside you.
This happens in parking lots if you try to park near the back to avoid other cars even in the very back trying to change my clothes.
I had got so that think about it came to mind first there before saying. They knew you were fishing and did it anyway it won't go well.
Other than that sounds like a good time, you never know with fishing. If your on the beach road in Nags Head I would check out Seagreen.
