How about the days before mono was developed ?
Used cutty hunk linen for our fishing lines, use it in salt water !! then you had to wash in soap and water, rinse in clear water, the wind up on a dryer otherwise it would rot.
Unless we were fortunate to have bamboo rods, we used hand lines...some with bamboo rods were luck and had reels.
4 wheel drives ...LOL.... what in the world was that. ???
Lived in a tenement with 26 families, 1 family had a car..
