We started at the sand pit/trash dump, us kids had to use safety pins as hooks (no barbs to worry about and no one thought about bending down the barbs)never did catch anything like that. After awhile I graduated to using a fly rod with no reel just a long piece of mono tied to the rod tip. On to the teenage years, dad allways knew where and when to go and we allways caught coolers full of fish and never never got skunked.....well thats the way I remember it anyway!
