The best thing I've found for my reels is plain ole WD-40. I fish a lot for flounder out of Maryland and spray the internals with that stuff before and after. I mean, it does stand for "water displacing 40" so it should be pretty good at repelling water LOL. Either way I still rinse them good with water after each time out and take them apart and spray them down. The good thing too is you don't have to worry about the oil repelling fish. A lot of fresh water fisherman actually spray their artificials with it on purpose as an attractant.
