I prefer spinning reels, the conventionals you have to set it so that the throwing weight stops right before it hits the ground when dropped.

Some good shelling below, I am guessing south end of Hatteras Island or Ocracoke Island and I've found you have to catch the waves just right.

Kitty Hawk it's almost halfway up on the beach for waves to clean the big stuff out the sloughs and not wash it back out if it's going further.
