Fishing that snag rig is about like free lining , and the egg sinker/leader is what we use on our down rods. We started using the snag rig just because my luck was always the same - only one school of bait would be up and catchable and the Stripers were always right under them , and I hated to throw the net and spook everything around them. Have you guys ever tried balloon rigging from the bank? It works pretty good for Stripers too , and it'll keep bigger bait from swimming you into snags on the bottom.
