Good luck! Certainly hope you are able to catch a few , they are an absolute blast to catch this time of year , so I'll be looking for reports! I've always heard that Lake Anna can be tough fishing , but that probably depends on who is doing the fishing as much as anything else. Stripers are pigs , so if you can find them you can usually catch a couple , even on a slow day. I think Duane that used to post here fished Anna sometimes , but my memory isn't what it used to be :)

My back is still about the same , so I haven't been. My d@#^ legs go numb pretty regularly , so I'm afraid of ending up in the water. Still a little cold for that! Thank you for asking. Another reason I haven't been , is that my sister remains in the hospital. My near-daily coffee and eclair supply stops for her seem to be working , albeit slowly. As of now , she's off of the transplant list and reclaiming lung capacity and function daily. Probably headed to inpatient rehab soon for a couple of months , which is honestly something I was fearful would never happen. It's nothing short of a miracle , and I count my blessings every day. Hopefully by this time next year she'll be able to get out on the water with me again , since she likes fishing almost as much as I do!

Here's a rig to try , but make very sure it's legal on Anna where you'll be , because I know there's one river/creek that feeds into Smith Mountain where it is against the law in the spring. We've done this in the spring in other places and had a lot of luck. Put a weighted treble (not too much weight , and not a huge hook) on the end of a 6-7 foot piece of heavier fluorocarbon knotted to the main line. If you see nice bait come up , cast past the school , make four or five good sweeps through the school until you snag one , and then let it sink under the school once you feel him. I'll usually put it in a rod holder , and set the drag pretty light. The baitfish will try to keep up with the school , but the treble will keep him down below , scared , helpless and alone , and right where a striper would approach the school to ambush/feed. I've caught a lot of nice Stripers doing that , you just have to make sure it's legal. Some people will use a swivel , but I never have , makes it harder to snag bait in my opinion and Stripers aren't too terribly bad for twisting line.

Let us know how you do!!
