Maybe with a breezy wind and strong current coming from the south you might catch some croakers or northern sea mullet around the end of the pier.
Small pieces of fresh shrimp, frozen squid or mullet should be good for bait.
A Gotcha lure might be worth trying from the pier, the usual white body with red head and for spring, fluorescent green or gold are good colors.
Could be a bluefish there, take about 20 casts around the end of the pier and if nothing wait awhile then try again.
The water temperature is cold right now, the right wind can change it. 48 degrees for a chance, 50+ degrees better chance.
The fish should show up after a few days of 54 degree water temperature sometimes between 50-54 degrees if it's staying there.
I'm assuming your staying on the northern beaches.
For the kids I'd fish Avalon Pier as they have a game room, climb up Jockeys Ridge, visit the Aquarium on Roanoke Island.

This one might be open for Easter.

They usually like this place to eat along with donut and ice cream shops.
