My catch closest to the beach was last fall. I casted further with a double hook bottom rig with shrimp, but it was rough and even 8 oz would not hold. After awhile, I resorted to drinking beer and didn't care to constantly recast. So my bait is almost on the beach and my line was slack and two old ladies walking ran into my line and when I jumped up and apologized and reeled it all in there was a pompano on one hook and a flounder on the other. Only fish I caught that day! But many beers saved the rest.
