1983 - 2005 Whalehead Beach. Memories.

-Biggest electrical storm ever experienced - have on tape.
-Tug o war w/ washed up mooring line. Passersby joined.
-Washed up surgical kit. Syringes all over the beach.
-Kids fed steak to lost dog who was actually a resident.
-Food Lion built.
-Corolla lighthouse free to climb.
-Side roads off 12 were sand.
-Early on only a few houses per block. Didn't last long.-
-Wee Winks near lighthouse. Next door P.O and Riggs realty.
-Youngest son fell in love 1st time.
-Oldest son asked girl to marry him while family watched from dune and shot off fireworks when she said "yes".
-Daughter went for evening beach walk. Gone 4 hours. Was helpin lost boy find cottage.
-Spent 1 week of 24/7 rain. Surf up to dunes whole time.
-Had to drive spiders from porches/decks w/ plastic bats.
-Found mouse in spider web in storage room.
-Rental Co. went bankrupt. Lucky to get $$ back.
-Friends at beach divorced. She then married a woman.
-Daughter stepped on #3 hook in surf - nearly out top of foot. Dr. son removed w/o push thru and barb removal.
-Horses takin daily siesta under houses. 1 tried to come in.
-Literally bumping into horses on beach in morning fogs.
-Seein animal rights Org. whipping horses into trailers.
-Bein mistaken for "devil worshipers" on beach one nite.
-Got free week from owner after a lot of rain.
-Mrs. Capt ripped cartop carrier off leavin Timbuktu garage.
-Suddenly lost 1 week rental...Rental Co. screw up.
-Caught 50+ fish sunup and sundown daily.
-Findin ships wheel washed up.
-No kids friends allowed. Had to be fiance to be allowed.
-Friends wife hit post at Timbuktu. Told husband a deer.
-Pulled "Stargazers" out of sand not knowing hold a charge.
-Won beach volleyball championship 3 of 4 years. Last time opposing team had Olympic volleyball player on team.
-Saved Vietnamese family 2x from discrimination by whites.
-Teens smeared excrement on van door handles cause kids wouldn't associate w/ them.
-Kids out nights on beach w/o a worry.
-Crabs runnin out of water and up strings to hands. Really!
-Spent lots of time at Whalehead Club property.
-Became too busy w/ irresponsible visitors. Moved to HI.
