If I'm not mistaken Buzzard's Bay is on the south side of Colington in Kill Devil Hills, there's a channel that might be worth checking out.

If it helps any you can catch bluefish and stripers around the pilings at the Wright Memorial Bridge on small fluorescent green jigs.

You might find some flounder in the shallow water around the duck blinds.

The large square buoy south of the bridge on the east side usually has a lot of small size spot and croaker around it and you might catch a striper there.

As for crabs you should be able to get a half dozen keepers. I would try to get away from the crab pots and try areas that are hard for people to get to and you might find some really big crabs. I've caught them 10 inches across the shell before.
