fishing in the Currituck sound

I'm interested in starting to fish in the area of the Currituck Sound, at the Wilber Wright Bridge and possibly just North (Buzzard's Bay) of this location. I was wondering if there is any good fishing located in the Currituck Sound in the area of Buzzard's Bay. I have talked to several people in the area and they tell me that there is nothing in the Currituck Sound and Buzzard's Bay except freshwater bass, carp and catfish. Is this true or are they keeping a good fishing location a secret. Also, in the same area is there many Blue Crabs, enough to catch a dozen or two?
