Circle Hooks- are great for catch and release, esp with barb smashed down. When you Load the hook with a circle hook * its slow and deliberate,to master the technique and not jerk the bait and hook from a fish's mouth, you gently lift the rod tip and begin reeling in line. Great for live bait or dead bait for large fish.
Kahle Hooks- the barb is pointed toward the hook eye instead of toward the shank of the hook. The distance is also much greater between the point and the shaft. This may lead to an increased rate of gut-hooking. Great for keeping everything you catch per say. Flounder, Slot Drum, Blues, Kings. Same hook set, but keep your drag a little more firm.
I think every Hook has it's time and place. And it really depends on your style of fishing and what you like =)
And heres a link to new rules (2009) for sound fishing, during the warmer months hope that helps!!
