J-Hooks

I'm bound and determined to make all of my surf fishing rigs myself this winter.Drum,flounder,pompano,blues.Store bought stuff works,but has it's limits AND structural failures.Ordered book."Surfcaster's Guide to rigs and lures",Milt Rosko. Not in yet.After all of that,my question is,J-hooks vs.circle hooks vs.kahle hooks.I pay attention and set quick with J-hooks,right in the lips.Quick hook out and release or in the cooler.When I use circle or kahles all I do is hook water and feed fish.Are the circle and kahle hooks a fish friendly fad,or am I missing something here.Not trying to be a wise guy,just a question.
