sounds like the banks were good to you. here are a couple of things i remember:
parking at the ramp at avon and carrying all my surf stuff to the beach because i didn't have a 4x4.

catching nice sea mullet, two at a time and throwing them back because i thought they were suckers.

staying at the old london inn and getting up at daylight with hot coffee and walking over hill to beach.

decided to go to va. beach for vaction, got there, stayed 1 hour and headed to the banks.

pulling off main road for restroom stop and them "BIG SKEETERS" EATING ME ALIVE!

night fishing on the piers and in the surf.

counting the days i had left before i had to go home.

shopping day for the better half (always started around kill devil hills and ended up down at hatteras)

i do have a 4x4 now and i got to know the names of most of the fish. the banks have changed in the last 35 years, but i can't think of a better place to spend a week in the spring and a week in the fall. i hope the young people get to enjoy and take care of this beautiful place like i do. happy new year everyone.
