i'm like jlmann, i stick with morrels. sometimes i run across shaggy manes. they have a nutty taste. i've tried others, nothing compares to the morrel. we find the darker ones in the mountains and the lighter colored ones in old apple orchards. just split them in half and soak in salt water over night. this gets the little critters out. drain and roll in flour and fry in butter. yum yum can't wait. if you like fried orysters you will love morrels.
