Schroomin was one of my grandmothers favorite passtimes. Went w/ her many times. Would pick the darndest lookin stuff. Some lacey, even some glow in the dark. She never poisoned herself - luckily. She would touch to tongue raw. If it didn't bite back, good to eat or dry. If it "bit back" as she put it, she would boil and do the same test. Only if a "bite back" occurred after the boil would she pitch em.

Nicest ones (to look at anyway) were in the cemetary. Course couldn't eat those cause of the location. Ate mulberries from there for years till dad asked me if I ever considered where the roots of the trees were!!
