Well, tho should be painting crown molding, and prepin for the big storm due tomorrow...
Here's some new and some old stuff.
Whalehead beach about 10 years ago. Son fishin surf. Capt at the house catchin zzz's. Walkie comes on = "Dad, need help NOW". Rolled out of bunk by family. Hustle to beach to find son about 1/4 mile north of usual. Hundred or so onlookers. He's about ready to loose the rod. Says he's had ray on for about an hour and is spent. Fish is about 125 ft out. Capt takes over for about 20 minutes. Dragged further north. Fish 6 ft. out of the water every 5 minutes. Big as a car hood. Manta. Clipped at that point.
or...sound side. Location not for publiation. BIG sturgeon skeletons.
or...Waves beach, cobia in surf. 40". Light rod. 15 lb test. 15 minutes & fish into wash but too heavy to beach. Send son out w/ instruction "grab the leader". Son does. Takes 2 steps, fish falls off at waters edge. Hook bent open. Capt's expression priceless!! Oh, forgot to mention big the crowd watching, and daughter who has caught the whole thing on video. Annual family video produced by son has it included w/ background music of movie Jaws.... Classic!!
or... Whalehead beach, bout 0900 hrs, and teen daughter steps on large hook in surf. Barb near coming out top of foot. Carried out onto beach by friend. Capt back at the house, catchin zzz's again. Time its real nice to have an ER Dr. son. Shot of anethestic, and takes it out on the spot, not by push thru and barb snip off but back the way it went in. Asked him where he learned that. Just got a smile, like... don't sweat the small stuff dad. Guess shouldn't have been surprised the "bug doctor", pulled it off. Bug Doctor??? Thats a story for another day. And...she was back in water late that afternoon.
Terry, that should be enuf to get the ball rollin...
