As far as I know that rig is legal , but I've never seen anyone use one. I catch most of my blues on Gotcha lures or spoons , so give that a try when you get over here too. More fun to catch them on lighter tackle with a lure in my opinion.
Species vary month to month throughout the year. Bluefish , Spanish Mackerel , King Mackerel , Cobia , Flounder , Red Drum ,Black Drum , Mullet , Pompano , Croaker , Spot , Sheepheads , Dogfish , Blacktips , Skates , Stingrays , Tarpon are all caught on the Outer Banks. The King Mackerel , Cobia and Tarpon are more likely to be caught from the end of a pier or a boat. I'm probably leaving out a few species too.
