Ya'll tie some really fancy knots. Tried that blob thing last night for 2 hours. Got it once. Can you really tie that in a 30 knot wind?
I use a simple knot shown to me by a waterman on Hatteras.

Take one line and form a loop in it, put the second line thru the loop and loop it back over itself. Wrap each line three times around itself, back thru the loop and pull tight. It's a very small knot, holds great, and is easy to tie no matter the wind or temp.
Hope this helps someone who has four or more thumbs like me.
