I'm not a good person to advise you on yak fishing , but most people use a combination of lures and bait fishing from a kayak.

I don't know your level of experience in a kayak , so I apologize in advance for what I'm about to say. Be careful and know your limitations. Pay close attention to your surroundings - a wave at the wrong time , or a boater that doesn't see you or has no respect for kayaks can mean trouble. There have been "issues" in the past involving kayaks and boats. Hope that doesn't offend you , I just hate hearing about accidents that could have been avoided.

Fishing the sound could be very productive for specks and pups this time of year , especially if you can find some of the deeper holes. Good luck!
