On the 8 ft. reel I'd use the next to last size Pfleuger President in the link below. It holds something like 220 yds. of 14 lb. test. The biggest size holds more. They aren't really a saltwater reel , but they are well made and I have had good luck with them.

On the 10 ft. rod you'll need something bigger like a Daiwa Emcast Sport 6000.

Those two rods would allow you to bottom-fish and throw lures at the same time , unless the 8 footer is a heavy rod.

Lots of good reels out there though. You might want to go to a Bass Pro Shops somewhere so you can get your hands on them. I like a smooth reel with a medium retrieve rate for bottom fishing and a faster retrieve for fishing lures.

Just my opinion.
