last year and the year before at this time of year the snapper blues were running up and down the beach in the close surf every evening; after dinner there's still plenty of light and the beach is just filled with walkers. we fed 35 people fried fish dinners one night each year
I think, and you;ll hear different opinions from everyone, the best rig is a med-weight spinning rod with ~12-15 lb test and a 5-7ft "shock leader' of ~20-25 lb test.....lets you send lures a mile out w/o worrying about snapping the line.
I use pink and white sting silvers--- basically painted lead spoons with a treble at the end. The tackle shop in duck can rig you. send them out and reel them in fast. look for bait panicking and blues jumping in the surf--- they're often right in the closest breakers
i'll be heading up there this week-- haven't heard what the water temps have been, and that could change everything-- but i'm hoping for a hat trick
