May 29 Surf/Pier fishing

Hi all,

I will be fishing in Rodanthe May 29-June 5th. I've surf and pier fished later in the summer a couple times with decent luck but I'm wondering what I might be able to catch in the surf or off the Rodanthe pier this time of year. I'd like to cast lures with as well as try some cut mullet/sand fleas/shrimp/etc. Also, I usually do pretty good on the trout and puppy drum wading out into te sound casting popping corks with Gulp shrimp. Are these fish accessible in the sound this time of year? I really appreciate any advice any of you might have for me. Thanks!!
