I don't know much about the sound around Rodanthe. The Rodanthe pier has always been one of my favorites though. I've caught blues and spanish off of that pier until I couldn't lift my arms. My best day was 73 blues (biggest about 2 1/2-3 pounds) in an hour and a half on a red and white gotcha. It would definitely be worth a try.

Watch for school of menhaden, they'll come either up or down the coast and actually swim around the pier. Most of the time throwing a gotcha in a school of them will catch a bluefish.

Good pier to liveline for kings too.
