I agree, when I moved down here for the summer after 14 years of playing football, the grass pushed me to the piers, it took me 3 weeks before I would go to the end of avoloan peir. I always say yes sir and no sir, even after two years of good friendships with locals. After about the 6th week (and fishing all but a few days at the peir) the locals became very welcoming, however, there are a few peir rats who fish all day everyday that push and plow their way around, yelling at any vistior within 10 feet of there side ways line. Like many locals did for me, help a newbee out, most locals have cought hundreds of fish, help another get bowed up, you can be sure they will have more respect and passion for this beach.
