Told this before, but one that sticks in the mind.
HI, Waves beach. Towards 1100 hrs. Gettin ready to pack it in for the morning as beach fillin w/ tourons (of course they only come out at the hottest part of the day). Had been alternating btw extra eyes watchin grandkids and readin, when small boy, about 2, 3 at the most, comes walking along the waters edge headed north. While our kids packed up their gear and the grandkids, watched the little guy as he continued very purposefully down the beach. He was easy to pick out as he had on a bright colored red shirt. Maybe 20 minutes went by and as we were starting to head back to the house a woman eased by, mumbling about anyone seeing a little boy. Now mind you she was in no hurry or state of worry. If anything, she was put out at having to look for him. I could still make him and his red shirt - maybe 1/2 mile down the beach, and pointed him out. There was no thank you, no running to get him, just a casual stroll down the beach after him.
The new generation isn't ours is it??
