Rac, Thanks for the response. I've got plenty of smaller 7' & 8' rods, some of which I take with me. This is for long distance casting when the fish are out past the bar. It's easy when they're in the trough. LOL. When I retired 2 years ago we relocated as close to the OBX as money would allow! So I'm about 80 minutes from Nags Head, allowing me to go for just the day a few times a month. And a few times a year we do 3 or 4 days. So this rod will see more action than my old one did. I am thinking I want 11ft minimum and maybe 12ft. Most of the 13ft are too heavy, I don't want to throw 6 oz of lead. I like my 30# braid, which is why the Ugly Stick is out of the selection.
