Honestly , reports are hit or miss. You can be killing blues on metal for hours and the wind can change , then you might not catch a blue for 2 days. Tradewinds down on Ocracoke had a chart of species that were commonly around during certain months that I always thought was pretty accurate. The Outer Banks is one heck of a place to fish , and there's usually something around , it's just a matter of having a bait in the water when fish are around. If you can find a good hole , you'll probably catch something , though it's hard to say what.
