That question has been asked over and over again on here and noboby says much or reports back. I know there is a lot of freshwater fish in the canals. You could try Oregon Inlet if nothing is happening there. The public boat ramp is at Oregon Inlet Fishing Center near the bridge. I'd stay away from the bridge area in your boat and try to pick a day that's not windy, if the sound starts white capping start heading back to the boat ramp.
It can be flounder, trout, puppy drum, bluefish, small stripers, spot, croaker and black drum in the sound at Oregon Inlet. Drift fishing a bottom rig with cut bait or squid works good. Also they stop and check boats on the water to see if you have a fishing license, what's in the cooler and to make sure you have a fire extinguisher. Sometimes on land at the boat ramp causing a back up.
