The big drum that are caught at the pier in Sandbridge are usually there a few weeks before they start showing up here and the end of October to beginning of November is a good time to pick for this area. The best big drum night at Avalon Pier and Nags Head Pier last year was October 29th in a really cold 40 degree 20+mph northeast / northwest blow.
